Scientists from Ritsumeikan University in hand with Shiseido beauty company developed a technology of wearable, artificial LED Eye Lashes. Latest innovation implement “wireless power feeding ” to transmit power by microwaves with a remote devise. The first demonstration took place on 11 January 2018 in Las Vegas with a usage of mannequin model. Ritsumeikan University researchers developed small 3,5cm long receiving device with LED and antenna and attached onto artificially made eye lashes. A devise emits power lower than highest allowed governmental safety requirements, therefore Shiseido believes that the product is safe to use. At this stage of product development, LED Eye Lashes can be controlled from 1.5m distance, but Shiseido R&D team announce extending this range in future. It also plans further demonstration on human models instead of mannequins to improve visibility of their bold marketing campaigns. The product according to Shiseido official might be used by concert participants and other attendees of public mass events in places with relatively small amount of light.
